Spring Check-Up
So here we are at the beginning of April 2017. It’s hard to believe that three months of the year are now history. So how are you doing with those New Year’s intentions, resolutions, and/or words you picked for 2017? Be gentle with yourself, if they got lost somewhere along the way. Let’s take stock of where we are and where we want to be and move in that direction. It’s never too late to change course. No guilt is allowed in this review! Kick guilt to the curb if it comes your way.
Did you Pick A Word For the Year?
I picked the word focus and I used this Bible verse to go with it.

I’ve been focusing intently on being mindful with my emotions and eating. I’ve been working on a tiny walking habit. Some days I forget. Some days I have been too ill to do much more than the absolute barest minimum. I had bronchitis and then twelve days later I had an asthma attack that took me to the emergency room. There have been other health issues and family issues. Life is like this.
- Note where you are in relation to where you wanted to be and re-commit to continuing. Course correct if needed.
If you have been struggling with things outside of your control, remember that we always have choices within these difficulties. When we are aware that we have choices, we feel more in control. This is something that I learned today while writing in my journal. (I’m still slogging through the questions for the emotional eating journal prompts.)
- So, if life has spun you around and you’ve drifted from your “word” or intention for the year, just re-focus.
God Loves You No Matter How Your
New Year’s Intentions Are Going
If setbacks and problems have caused wounds that make you wonder if it matters, remember that you are not alone. God has never left you even if it feels like it. He knows what it is like to be wounded. He knows pain and sorrow. I heard this song on the radio when returning from the doctor’s office. I pray it ministers to you like it does to me.

In Conclusion
Finally, you are worth taking care of. If you got sidetracked, don’t give up on your New Year’s intentions/resolutions. You are loved. You are not alone. We’re in this journey together. Praying and hoping that you are as well as possible.
