It’s time for September 2020’s Link Party with A Chronic Voice! Sheryl has been hosting this monthly Link Party for a good while now and it’s something that I look forward to every month. This month’s prompts are Feeling, Gruelling, Tempting, Running, and Mending.
First of all, I’m an emotional eater. Stress and anxiety lead to overeating, and cravings for high carbohydrate junk foods. I’ve been having a LOT of trouble managing my cravings and weight as a result. I’ve also fallen into the bad habit of getting frustrated with myself, leading to negative self talk. Thankfully, I’ve become aware of my negative self talk around food, and weight. We all need to be more compassionate to ourselves. So, “It’s okay, Kathy. You’re doing as well as you can. It’s just time to try some other coping tools for the craziness of 2020.”
Next, life feels like a long steep, slog up a slippery hill this year. One step forward, three steps sliding backwards. The year has been full of losses and the final straw for me has been the loss this summer of my usual immunoglobulin infusion supply company. It was bought by another medical supply company. I miss the people I used to talk to each month to order my supplies. ):
This company is sending different brands that feel clunky to me. They seem completely unconcerned about the temperature recommendations on the bottles of immunoglobulin. For, example my old company always shipped the medicine with an ice pack if it was going to be too hot.
This company told me that it didn’t matter if the medicine bottles felt hot to the touch after shipping in the summer heat. Even though, the bottle says to store below 25C/77F degrees. They did reluctantly agree to add an ice pack if it’s going to be hot out during shipping. (:
Also, I don’t understand how they think that changing my order to a 4-needle infusion set is acceptable when I’ve been using a two-needle set for the last two years. I also don’t understand how they can substitute a 12 mm needle for a 6 mm needle without consequences. Several phone calls have gotten me no closer to higher quality service.
The infusion is supposed to go into the subcutaneous layer of skin, not into muscle. I’m afraid that the 12 mm needles will go too deep. It has been very anxiety-provoking for me!!! It has also caused a great deal of anger! It’s just one more thing outside of my control. And the customer service people I’ve talked to, aren’t even pleasant. Grrr.
End of rant.
Often I feel like a gerbil running around in circles on a wheel in a cage. No matter how many times I do my physical therapy exercises for my shoulder, it still doesn’t move properly. I’ll just have to keep doing my exercises, and learn to adjust to it. Hopefully, it will sort itself out in the future. At least, I’m praying that it will.
Lastly, have you ever had a piece of clothing that you just love to wear, and then the zipper breaks, or it rips somewhere where you cannot hide the repair? My favorite summer shorts with pockets became unwearable, because of a broken zipper. ):
My favorite tailor and dry cleaning shop is closed! I guess they went out-of-business during the pandemic. I either have to try and tackle the zipper myself or find another tailor. No money is in the budget for clothing this month. I guess I will be watching You Tube videos on replacing zippers this week. Wish me luck!
Wrap Up of September 2020 Link Party
While this post isn’t as upbeat as I’d like it to be, I hope it gives you permission to be open about your struggles, too. Sometimes we all just need to get stuff off our minds. There is nothing wrong with expressing what we’re feeling. I often find that talking about what’s bothering me, helps to clarify what the real issue is. If you’re struggling, find a safe person or place and get it off your chest.
