Privacy Policy
Policy Updated on 12/20/20
Welcome to UpBeat Living! We understand that privacy online is important to users of our Site, especially when conducting business. This statement governs our privacy policies with respect to those users of the Site (“Visitors”) who visit without transacting business.
“Personally Identifiable Information”
refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, financial profiles, social security number, and credit card information. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.
What Personally Identifiable Information is collected?
We may collect basic user profile information from all of our Visitors. We collect the following additional information from our Subscribers: email addresses of those who subscribe. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
What organizations are collecting the information?
When you subscribe to this site your personally identifiable information is collected by MailChimp. You can read their privacy policy here.
How does the Site use Personally Identifiable Information?
Your email addresses are used only to contact you when you subscribe, comment, or contact the owner. Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service. This service is provided by WordFence. You can read their privacy policy here.
With whom may the information may be shared?
Email addresses will never be shared or sold without your express permission.
How is Personally Identifiable Information stored?
Personally Identifiable Information collected by UpBeat Living is securely stored and is not accessible to third parties or employees of UpBeat Living except for use as indicated above.
What choices are available to Visitors regarding collection, use and distribution of the information?
Visitors may opt out of receiving unsolicited information from or being contacted by us by responding to emails as instructed, or by contacting us at UpBeat Living, 901 Main Street, PO Box 171, Bentleyille, PA 15314.
Are Cookies Used on the Site?
Cookies are used for a variety of reasons. We use Cookies to obtain information about the preferences of our Visitors and the services they select. We also use Cookies for security purposes to protect our subscribers. For example, if a Subscriber is logged on and the site is unused for more than 10 minutes, we will automatically log the Subscriber off. This website uses Google Analytics to provide information on this site’s users to the owner in order to improve the content. You can read their privacy policy here.
This website is protected by Wordfence; their privacy policy is here.
How does UpBeat Living use login information?
UpBeat Living uses login information, including, but not limited to, IP addresses, ISPs, and browser types, to analyze trends, administer the Site, track a user’s movement and use, and gather broad demographic information.
What partners or service providers have access to Personally Identifiable Information from Visitors and/or Authorized Customers on the Site?
UpBeat Living hires outside professionals to assist with managing this site, specifically Mailchimp, Siteground and Go Daddy. This policy does not cover these hired professionals. To the best of my knowledge, these services’ privacy policies have been reviewed by UpBeat Living, and meet legal standards. Your Personally Identifiable Information will never be shared or sold to others without your express permission.
Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information may occur to comply with law. We will disclose Personally Identifiable Information in order to comply with a court order or subpoena or a request from a law enforcement agency to release information. We will also disclose Personally Identifiable Information when reasonably necessary to protect the safety of our Visitors and Subscribers.
How does the Site keep Personally Identifiable Information secure?
All of our employees are familiar with our security policy and practices. We audit our security systems and processes on a regular basis. While we take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure site, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering and break-ins, and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place and we will not be liable to Visitors or Subscribers for any such occurrences.
How can Visitors correct any inaccuracies in Personally Identifiable Information?
Visitors and Subscribers may contact us to update Personally Identifiable Information about them or to correct any inaccuracies by emailing us at kforsyth@upbeatliving.net
Can a Visitor delete or deactivate Personally Identifiable Information collected by the Site?
We provide Visitors and Subscribers with a mechanism to delete/deactivate Personally Identifiable Information from the Site’s database by contacting us. However, because of backups and records of deletions, it may be impossible to delete a Visitor’s entry without retaining some residual information. An individual who requests to have Personally Identifiable Information deactivated will have this information functionally deleted, and we will not sell, transfer, or use Personally Identifiable Information relating to that individual in any way moving forward.
How long we retain your data.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What happens if the Privacy Policy Changes?
We will let our Visitors and Authorized Customers know about changes to our privacy policy by posting such changes on the Site. However, if we are changing our privacy policy in a manner that might cause disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information that a Visitor or Subscriber has previously requested not be disclosed, we will contact such Visitor or Subscriber to allow such Visitor or Subscriber to prevent such disclosure.
