March 2021’s Link Party with “A Chronic Voice”

March 2021's Link Party

It’s time for March 2021’s Link Party post with Sheryl at “A Chronic Voice”. The prompts are Incorporating, Breathing, Smiling, Stopping, and Relishing. Thank you Sheryl for hosting this link party each month. I’m really tired, so this post is short and I hope humorous.

Incorporating

First, I’ve decided that I need more FUN and new experiences in my life, because pandemic life is so boring. So, I’m attending an online Dance Party to celebrate the first day of spring this Saturday. I attended February’s Motown Dance Party with AARP last month and it was so much fun!

I’m also trying new foods or recipes. Today is St. Patrick’s Day, and I’m cooking up some corned beef and cabbage for the first time. Yesterday, I tried making hummus from scratch, and it turned out really yummy. I got the recipe from this lovely lady.

Breathing

Breathing is one of those necessary things. I try to take multiple deep breaths throughout the day. However, sometimes when I take a deep breath I get a sharp pain in my ribs. I don’t know why it happens, but it is an unpleasant surprise when it happens. I sat on a park bench today, and watched a robin looking for worms in the grass. The sun felt warm and breathing was easy. It’s a good breathing day. (:

Smiling

There was a saying when I was a little kid: “Smile, fresh air is good for your teeth.” I don’t know if its true, but smiles are contagious. Here’s an article that discusses the 6 Benefits of Getting Fresh Air. So take your teeth out for a walk or a sit in the sunshine. My daughter joined me in the park today, and that made me smile.

Stopping

I want to stop overeating, but I’m not succeeding at all. Instead, I need to find a way to stop STRESS! This pandemic is really getting on my nerves, and I just want it to stop. On top of that my elderly parents have been needing a lot of help lately with driving to appoinments and stores. I went from rarely going anywhere for months to going multiple places several times a week with them. So, “Hey Life” stop this merry-go-round! I want off. Yes, I’m feeling cranky and exhausted.

Relishing

Clover or Shamrock Leaves

Lastly, I’m looking forward to trying corned beef for dinner. Hopefully, I will relish it. I hope it’s not too salty. I soaked it for a half hour in cold water, like the recipe told me to do. I’m trying to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day as much as possible. So far it’s been pretty good. And I love the bright green of these clover leaves with the water drops on them! (:

By the way, a reader of my St Patrick’s Day post suggested that Riverdance was a great show to watch on this holiday. I just might go look for it.

Wrap-Up of March 2021’s Link Party

So there’s my answers to this month’s prompts! I hope you got a chuckle or at least a smile from reading this post. Don’t forget to check out the other responses to these prompts at the bottom of Sheryl’s Link Post above. Spring is coming, and that makes me smile as well. Take care friends.

Till next time, Kathy

  1. Great post! I love how your blog is always so positive and uplifting (like its name!).

So glad you attempted corned beef and cabbage – I make it every year (with loads of other veggies, too). Hope you enjoyed it! It’s a must-have for us for St. Patrick’s Day!

I agree that pandemic life is getting so boring! Not just pandemic life, but I started a year-long relapse last March, so I am really sick of that, too! (though starting to feel better) And we are also caring my my elderly FIL, though much of that falls to my husband. But I understand feeling cranky and exhausted.

    Happy First Day of Spring!

    1. Thanks so much for reading and leaving an encouraging comment, Sue! I did enjoy the corned beef very much. I don’t know why I waited so long to try it.
