My Forced Move
Well, it’s been 5 weeks since I moved into my apartment. In case you’re new here, I had to put my house up for sale, because I’m unable to work due to chronic illnesses. I don’t recommend being forced to move. It’s stressful to the MAX! However, I know that I’m not alone. You may have been forced to move in the past or it may happen to you in the future. So, I want to discuss the pros and cons.
First, I want to start with the cons, so we can end on a positive note.
Cons of Forced Moves
- Moving is STRESSFUL!
- Stress causes flares of illness symptoms.
- Overdoing it will happen!
- Keeping track of many details will cause brain overload and fatigue!
- You will have to update your address with everyone you want to keep in your life.
- You will drive yourself batty with ” Where did I put the ______? (fill in the blank)
- Going to the bathroom at night will be a challenge when you wake up, and cannot remember where you are.
Pros of Forced Moves
Now, onto the good stuff:
- Once the dust settles, you’ll have fewer bills to pay. Yes!
- A smaller place means more manageable cleaning tasks.
- Change is good for us. We tend to stay in our comfort zone. Forced moves push us out of our comfort zones.
- Adapting to new places, and people stimulates our brains.
- Boredom is temporarily not possible!
- It forces us to declutter.
- It’s easier to navigate in our new living space.
- There is the possibility of new opportunities and relationships.
- There is the possibility of new dreams for our futures.
I encourage all of us to focus on those last two bullet points when feeling overwhelmed with the cons of moving.
