Art Fun

This week’s post is all about having fun with arts and crafts. These fun activities can be done with children or with your inner child. Let your imagination run wild. It will take your mind off of adult responsibilities for awhile and lower stress.

I’ve been doing quite a bit of art activities lately as I’ve been recovering from bronchitis. Here is a sample of them:

Paper Fun

If you need some art inspiration one of my favorite books is The Usborne Book of ART Ideas by Fiona Watt. This book covers all kinds of fun things to paint and draw. This is not an affiliate link.

Another inspiring book is Art Journals and Creative Healing: Restoring the Spirit Through Self-Expression by Sharon Soneff. It explores ideas for expressing emotions in art and journaling. I found it to be very inspiring. This is not an affiliate link.

Other Art Fun

Playdough

Homemade Play dough Recipe

http://livingwellmom.com/2012/02/easy-homemade-playdough-recipe/

I’ve only ever made the cook recipe. I love to knead the warm dough. It feels good on achy fingers My kids loved making this when they were little and it lasts a long time. Plus, there was no chemical smell like with the commercial product. Also, playing with this is a really good stress reliever!

Slime

Personally, I don’t like the feel of this product, but I have two grown children who love it. Playing with this is relaxing according to my kids. If you’re a fan of silly putty or other sticky messes this just might be the thing for you.

Recycled Arts and Crafts

Finally, I’m a big fan of using things for art and craft projects that most people consider garbage. The internet has a wealth of recycled craft ideas for kids and adults. Some projects require very little time and effort. Others are far more difficult like re-purposing items for furniture. Here’s a resource to get the creative juices flowing. Fave Crafts is my favorite site for creative projects and ideas.
