Humor makes me feel better. I’d much rather watch a comedy than any other genre of movie or television show. According to the Mayo Clinic, laughter is a stress fighter. Even though researchers cannot agree on why laughter seems to boost our moods, it does make us feel better. So why not bring more humor into our daily lives?
As chronic illness warriors we need all the stress reduction we can get, and if it’s pleasurable at the same time, all the better.
My Favorite Funny Movies
Here is a list of my all time favorite comedy movies/shows:
What’s Up Doc? starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal. It came out in 1972. It gets my number one spot. The storyline is about 4 identical suitcases at a hotel, and their owner’s shenanigans.
Chicken Run is about a flock of chickens who believe that a rooster who crash lands inside their yard can help them get free from their evil owners. It came out in 2000. Animated film.
Wallace and Gromit Any of their adventures. Including those of Shaun the Sheep. Wallace is an inventor and Gromit is his dog. They have many hilarious adventures. Animated films. First came out in 1989. Check out their website: https://wallaceandgromit.com/films
Hot Fuzz starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Jim Broadbent. It came out in 2007 and is the only R rated one on the list. If blood bothers you, stay away from this one. The main character fights the bad guys in very unusual ways.
When we’re dealing with chronic illness and pain, humor can help distract us from the heavy aspects of our lives. What are your favorite funny movies? I’m always on the look out for new humorous shows to watch. So, please comment below.
