Add Some Humor To Your Life: Favorite Funny Movies

Humor makes me feel better. I’d much rather watch a comedy than any other genre of movie or television show. According to the Mayo Clinic, laughter is a stress fighter. Even though researchers cannot agree on why laughter seems to boost our moods, it does make us feel better. So why not bring more humor into our daily lives?

As chronic illness warriors we need all the stress reduction we can get, and if it’s pleasurable at the same time, all the better.

My Favorite Funny Movies

Here is a list of my all time favorite comedy movies/shows:

What’s Up Doc? starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal. It came out in 1972. It gets my number one spot. The storyline is about 4 identical suitcases at a hotel, and their owner’s shenanigans.

Chicken Run is about a flock of chickens who believe that a rooster who crash lands inside their yard can help them get free from their evil owners. It came out in 2000. Animated film.

Wallace and Gromit Any of their adventures. Including those of Shaun the Sheep. Wallace is an inventor and Gromit is his dog. They have many hilarious adventures. Animated films. First came out in 1989. Check out their website: https://wallaceandgromit.com/films

Hot Fuzz starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Jim Broadbent. It came out in 2007 and is the only R rated one on the list. If blood bothers you, stay away from this one. The main character fights the bad guys in very unusual ways.

  1. I agree!! My son (who is also chronically ill) always says, “Laughter really is the best medicine!” We are HUGE fans here of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run – all SO clever.

Some of our favorite funny movies are 80’s classics, like My Cousin Vinny (so many hilarious scenes) and especially Planes, Trains and Automobiles, which we can pretty much quote from beginning to end but still gets us belly laughing every time!

I’ll have to try What’s Up Doc? – never saw it before 🙂

I also wrote on this topic and included TV shows and books good for a laugh, but your comment thingy won’t let me leave a link – it was my June 16 post this year.

    Thanks for the recommendations!

  2. I love comedies Kathy! I’ve seen Chicken Run and one of the Wallace and Gromit movies, but I haven’t seen the other two. I’ll have to check them out. Most of my favorite comedies are the really stupid ones like See Spot Run, Rocket Man, Joe Dirt, etc….. Hope you’re doing well!
